blah
blahI also survived black friday. I had a plan to go early in the morning, but Ainsley and some sick stomach changed that plan. So, we went when Cheyenne woke up around 10. Amazingly enough we got everything we wanted. We got a snazzy DVD player for the car so that Ainsley can watch Nemo all the way to Texas. That's the husband's project for the day, getting it installed. We also got my dad, Erick, Cheyenne, and I all taken care of in terms of Christmas presents. Plus, Cheyenne got the tree up and the Nativity set up.
We never take Ainsley anywhere fun because we went to toy r us and she walked in with wide eyes spewing "oh my gosh." I let Cheyenne grab the the stuff we were buying and Ainsley and I wondered the aisles playing with all the toys. Made her day. I don't think she knew that there were that many Backyardigans toys manufactured. Fun fact for everybody: toy makers have resurrected pound puppies and popples.
ditzyPushing Daisies: Kristen Chenowith is a broadway singer, what better way to express her feelings than in song. Unlike what I've heard to be terrible Viva Laughlin, Kristen crooning Hopelessly Devoted while the floor waxer danced to his ipod was priceless. It had me laughing for minutes after! And, did anyone notice the Veronica Mars alum? And he drives a hummer! The thing is, I cannot describe this show without making it sound weird. Of coures, it is weird, but in a good way. In a make you laugh the whole hour way. The chemistry between Chuck and Ned is so great that a kiss through see through bodybags was absolutely the most awesome moment for me since seeing Logan and Veronica make out on the balcony of the Camelot. Just perfect. Did I mention there's knitting? Yeah, I can't tell you, you just have to watch for yourself. Don't worry that you'll be lost, just watch! Or, catch it online.
Bionic Woman: I turned it off, really, I sat through the whole of Big Shots (i probably should have turned that off) but I got bored with BW.
Life: Can I get a 'right on' for NBC ordering 3 more scripts of this show! I was so terrified that since I loved it, it would be canned. But, it looks like the peacock network is taking a step in the right direction for a full season pickup! Damien Lewis rocks my face in this role. He's so great and did I call the love triangle or what? The whole partner meeting the lawyer was like a showdown outta some western. He is totally zen-ish.
Grey's Anatomy: This was my favorite ep so far this season. By far, the best one. Was it because there was some serious doubt and angst poured into the Gizzie milkshake? Probably. But I also think they got back to the great stuff the characters are made of. 'Really old guy' waking up and bringing out the no nonesense, highly irritable Izzie that we have seen before, Cristina pretending to mope to get surgery, and Bailey letting Alex and Grandpa Gillmore have it, it was all pitch perfect. What did I miss? Oh, I miss bitchtastic Callie...she needs to fight for who she is and her marriage, not just let her desperation show. I also miss Addison. Maybe if Private Practice doesn't work out she can come back to Seattle Grace.
Big Shots: As I noted before, I did actually sit through the whole episode and I'm done. It's just not my kinda show. I don't think I can sit through another show about rich people knowing how poor I am.
The other day someone asked me if there's a tv show I haven't seen...well, I'm compiling a list....but i have to tell you, it's probably just gonna have a lot of reality tv, coz that's the stuff I really hate. I'll give most other stuff a try, but not that crap. Who really wants to see "Who wants to Marry a Farmer?"
Last night and tonight are not much to talk about...but I will.
Smallville: I'm not a fan of this show, last night was the first time I have ever sat through a whole episode. Can't say I cared for it. But see, I gave it a shot, I give most shows a fair shot.
Grey's Anatomy: Second verse, same as the first...I hate Gizzie, I throw things at my tv when they are on. Remember at the beginning of last season when Izzie was on the floor in her prom dress and no one could talk her out of it? Denny supposed love of her life gone...to me, George is merely poor rebound guy. And Mama Burke just made me mad! I like that people are scared of her, but I didn't like the advice she was handing out. But I did love Bailey yelling at Alex! Yeah! And I loved the scenes where Cristina is using the wedding gifts as bargaining chips. Izzie really wanted that mixmaster.
Big Shots: It bought another week. It didn't suck nearly as bad as the pilot. But it still wasn't great. I would prefer if this one got the axe before, say, Life. But who knows...I'll watch one more week because the characters endeared themselves...a little. One more week.
Moonlight: At the urging of my sister, I watched. I wanted to like it, ya know support ol' David Greenwalt. But it wasn't funny enough, it wasn't fresh enough. It felt too much like Cold Case but with vampires. I'm not saying they aren't hot vampires, but Jason Dohring's hand gestures can't keep me glued to the tv. Anyone else think his vampy guy is so season 1 Logan, ya know, before we found out his dad beat him?
Now, speaking of vampires, my DH tutor gave me a book to read called Twilight. My friend Tiff is all obsessed with it (she doesn't read much) and so, I trudged through the book during Numbers. Here's the thing, Numbers, a show never watch unless I'm at my Mom's house, kept me far more entertained than this book. I know, I know, I should like it because I like Buffy, because I liked Angel, because I liked Lost Boys. But, I'm into chapter three and it's not thrilling me. People tell me I should like heroes but I don't like that either. I do, however find myself picking apart the grammar so that I can improve my own writing. I'll keep trudging because I know Tiff is dying to talk about it with me...and I'd rather read it than the books on potty training I got from the library, but, I'm just not sure it's my cup of tea. Surely some of you have read it...do I keep going? I already told Tiff I have enough fandom breaking into my dreams.(man, once you're a Rayne shipper...) But, I guess everyone needs a fandom, she's definitely found hers.
tiredMoving on...to tv...
Grey's Anatomy: I hate gizzie...I skipped a few eps last season because I heart Callie and tho i like the other characters separately, i can't stand george and izzie getting horizontal. I think it cheapens their friendship and it disgusts me. Besides that? Well, I'm loving Cristina. I love that a patient telling his family that he loves them, can get to her now. It shows real growth from the first season. Meredith and Derek aren't an item anymore? Well, they have always had their best sex when not a thing. Can you say "elevator"? I think this season is gonna be great, but can I say that I missed Addison? Cheyenne says, "they need her coz look, that lady with the severed arm is pregnant!" Oh, which brings me to Lexi Grey: I like her, I didnt think i would, but I do. I would prefer if she could stay single, or not date one of our beloved drs, but probably not.
Big Shots: I'm gonna give it one more try. It was convoluted, over the top, and a little cheesy. But I think it can be saved by one Rob Thomas of Veronica Mars fame. So, I'll give it one more week.
I'll leave you with this exchange between george and lexi:
george: you (pregnant pause) are kinda awesome
lexi: i know
chipper
cranky
